Little Voices

I can still hear the tiny voice inside my head early this afternoon:

EJ, this is a public restroom in a gigantic, impersonal hospital. Do not set your briefcase down along the wall here by the paper towel dispenser. Your meds are in here, including one controlled ADHD drug that is going to be a pain in the neck to replace. Your orientation folder is also in here - and remember, they only gave that to you an hour ago. Do you really want to make the humiliating march back to HR for another one?

But there was also a second voice:

Nah! No worries. Set the bag down. You're going into a stall a mere fifteen feet away! And you'll only be a minute. And really, who would have the nerve to...?

I'll let you guess which voice was more persuasive.

  1. EJ I hope you took your bag into the stall with you? Women have this problem every day. And we have to hover over the toilet seat if we don't want to catch something nasty. So we have 1 huge bag. And then have to preform feats of strength. Always take the bad in with you.

Next point: You have ADHD! I do too. I just started taking medication for it. For years it have been able to work around it. But Grad school has been an eye opener. Do your medications work? How do you feel?

  2. Pinky, I wish I were as smart as you give me credit for being. Unfortunately, I made the wrong decision and it led to an exasperating couple of days, but ultimately no harm done and no permanent valuable losses.

I saw your recent post about ADHD. I'll pop over and leave some comments there.
